Aerial Expansions Support

We are sorry if you are having an issue with Aerial or Aerial Expansions. This page documents common problems and fixes for both products. If you have purchased an Aerial Expansion and are unable to get it working after following these instructions please fill out an Aerial Expansions Support Request. If you did not purchase an expansion and are still having trouble with Aerial, check out the Aerial support page here.

1. Can’t find the Custom Videos or Settings tab in Aerial 3?

In Aerial 3 the “Custom Videos tab” is now named “More Videos” and there is no longer a settings tab. Our older install instructions refer to the Custom Videos tab. If you are using Aerial v3, simply open the More Videos tab.

2. Having problems accessing an expansion you purchased?

When you purchase an expansion from us you will receive a PDF download with instructions and a special install link. The PDF download link will show on the page immediately after you make a purchase, and will also be e-mailed to you. If you do not see the e-mail, check your Junk Mail folder. If you still can not find it, fill out a support request.

3. Having problems installing or downloading an expansion?

If you followed the install instructions with your purchase and are having issues installing or downloading the videos the issue may be related to your network, especially if you use Little Snitch.

A. Have you checked your network connection?

To confirm you can access our server open http://air.magicwindow.tv/ in your browser. If you see the text “Welcome to Jetson Creative Media Server” that indicates your network is at least allowing access to the manifests. If you are unable to access this please check your network or filters (steps below.)

B. Are you using any network filters or blockers like Little Snitch?

The most common source of problems with downloading in Aerial is applications that block network access like Little Snitch. If you use Little Snitch or a similar app to monitor or block your network access you may need to manually add access to the following hosts:

  • air.magicwindow.tv

  • public.24hourwallpaper.com

  • raw.githubusercontent.com

  • For weather access:

    • weather-ydn-yql.media.yahoo.com

    • s.yimg.com

More troubleshooting tips for Little Snitch can be found in the Aerial documentation here.

Prior to Catalina access is granted to ScreenSaverEngine. On Catalina access needs to be granted for legacyScreenSaver which can be found here: /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/PlugIns/legacyScreenSaver.appex

C. Is it possible your network source is being filtered or blocked?

In some countries and locations network filters are in place limiting access to certain sites. If you have already done the above steps and tried accessing our server in your browser, try using the alternate links provided in the install instructions. We offer two different download hosts and it could be one is blocked for you but the other is not.

d. If you are still unable to install the packs or download the videos, please fill out the Aerial Expansion Support Request and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

When the setup completes it should open System Preferences on the Screen Saver panel. You must manually select the screen saver to start using it. Once you have selected it, you can press Screen Saver Options… to configure it.

E. Is the plug-in installed?

If you don’t see Aerial in System Preferences, it’s possible it wasn’t installed. You can check if the plug-in is installed from the Aerial menu bar item. If it shows the plug-in is installed, you’ve made it through the first part! You just need to find Aerial on the Screen Saver panel. If it is not installed, you can click install from the menu bar menu.
