2022 Series Aerial Expansions

We are excited to share three new expansions for Aerial available now in our web store. Monterey Air, Empire Air (New York City), and Southwest Air comprise our 2022 Series of Aerials. You can purchase the expansions individually, or purchase the entire 2022 series as a bundle. These new expansions go along with the release of Aerial 3 which contains many highly requested features. Thanks to Tim Cross for composing the music for these demos.

Monterey Air Expansion for Aerial
When Apple announced Monterey as this years macOS location we knew we were in for a challenge. The Monterey region is notorious for strict drone and photography rules. There are a very limited number of locations that drones can fly legally, and special permits are required from the local police and FAA. We pulled it all off to bring this to you!

Empire Air Expansion for Aerial
Aerial already has videos of New York City, but they capture the same small parts of New York that can be seen in hundreds of movies. New York City is MASSIVE and we wanted to capture a more complete picture of it. So, armed with new drone policies that allow us to fly at night, we set out for eight days of filming in New York City.
One of our most challenging urban expeditions ever, the results are epic!

Southwest Air Expansion for Aerial
Last Spring we drove a loop from Los Angeles to Las Cruces and back through Colorado. We spent 14 days on the road in total, during which we both filmed aerials and 24 Hour Wallpapers. The White Sands and Canyonlands 24 Hour Wallpapers are from this trip. This beautiful new set compliments our existing videos from the region.

Aerial 3 - Better in every way

The release of our new expansions goes along with the release of Aerial 3. Existing customers can upgrade from the Aerial Companion on the menu bar. Or download the latest version of Aerial from Github.

This new version of Aerial has a range of improvements many of which support the expansions.

  • The Screen Saver Options panel has been redesigned and is now cleaner and easier to use.

  • It is now far easier to browse and select sets of videos. This really helps when you own all the expansions.

  • It is finally possible to store the video files somewhere other than the primary drive on macOS Monterey and macOS versions other than Catalina and Big Sur. You can even store the videos on network shares and external drives. The feature remains unavailable on Catalina and Big Sur due to Apple limitations.

These and many more benefits come along with the latest update. Upgrade today and enjoy!
