Every year for the past nine years we have gone on an adventure to create wallpapers & screen savers at the destination Apple features in macOS. We expect this year to be the last year Apple features California along with their macOS release (this is the 10th of 10 years.) So we decided to do something special - to livestream our photographic adventure so others can experience our creative process. We hope you will join us.
How to Follow Along
Over the week we will be posting notes and photos on Twitter and livestreaming video on Twitch. The easiest way to follow along is to simply follow us on those two platforms. If you want to be notified when we release the final wallpapers & screen savers be sure to join our Early Access list.
Our Itinerary - The Rough Plan
Over the week we will be offering live video on-and-off as our conditions allow. Each day we will post a tentative schedule on Twitch for when we plan to broadcast, but we may broadcast at any time. Because we don’t yet know where we’re going, we don’t know what the Internet situation will be like, so we can’t promise anything other than to do our best to share the experience with you. Check our schedule on Twitch for the latest. All times are Pacific.
Monday June 6th - Visit to Apple Park, Planning
Live video on Twitch 7:30AM-8AM & 5:30PM-7PM PDT.
After spending the day at Apple Park, Hal and Josh will discuss the new destination and plan for filming. We can not stream our experience at Apple Park, but we will share pictures on Twitter throughout the day.
Tuesday June 7th - Drive to the destination
Live video clips throughout the day on Twitch from 9AM-9PM PDT.
Join Josh & Hal as they drive Hal’s van to the next filming destination. Come along as we scout filming locations and come up with a plan for how we’re going to capture the location. If conditions allow, we will do our first aerial filming.
Wednesday June 8th - 24 Hour Filming & Aerial Filming

THE REAL DEAL - see what it takes to film a 24 Hour Wallpaper. We will do our best to provide video throughout the filming process, but we may be limited by Internet access. Look for clips throughout the day!
Thursday June 9th - 24 Hour Filming & Aerial Filming
Live video clips throughout the day on Twitch from 5AM-10PM PDT.
The odds of successfully filming a 24 Hour Wallpaper in a single session approach zero, so we plan in advance to do at least two shoots. If we have good results on day one, we may focus more on aerial videos.
Friday June 10th - Wrap-up
Live video clips throughout the day on Twitch from 9AM-12PM PDT.
FINISH - If weather, technology, people, and skill all cooperate, we will wrap up all of our filming and review some of what we captured. We’ll take feedback on what people like from what we have done so far to inform what we chose to release.
